Welcome to the online application for the DHS/CHS Hall of Honor Scholarship. The entire application process can be completed online using this website.

This scholarship has been established as a tribute to the Davenport High School/Central High School Hall of Honor and will be awarded to students whose scholastic profile and involvement in school and community demonstrate the qualities that could lead to the personal success and service that exemplify the Hall of Honor.

Five scholarships are awarded under the umbrella of the Hall of Honor. All are of equal value and all have the same general criteria. One Hall of Honor Scholarship is given in honor of Jim Hester; this scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who is a minority student. One Hall of Honor Scholarship will be given in honor or Russell and Ellen Meyer; this scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who demonstrates the greatest financial need. The remaining three scholarships will be awarded on an at-large basis.

ELIGIBILITY

Any senior at Davenport Central High School who has a 3.0 grade point average or is in the scholastic upper half of his/her graduating class is eligible to apply for this scholarship.

DESCRIPTION OF SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors for his/her tuition and/or other related college costs. Payment of the award will be made to the recipient after verification of enrollment/registration has been given to the high school Principal. Recipients shall agree to send verification of academic achievement to the Central High School Principal following their first term of college work.

CRITERIA FOR AWARD

The Hall of Honor Scholarship Committee's decisions in the final selection of scholarship winners will be based on the applicant's total school and community record, including scholastic achievements and extra-curricular activities, moral character, community involvement and career plans. Ethnicity and need will also be considered. Recommendations from the applicant's guidance counselor and teachers will be reviewed and personal interviews may be required. The Committee shall have the whole discretion with respect to the awards and all of its decisions regarding the awards shall be final.

PAYMENT OF THE AWARD

Payment of the award will be made directly to the recipient after verification of enrollment/registration at a college or university has been given to the Central High School Principal.

Applications must be submitted by 03:00 PM Friday, March 26, 2010 in order to be considered by the scholarship committee. Late applications will not be considered for any reason. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their application before this deadline.
